I respect each individual right of freedom of speech and I am empathetic with brother Ken in seeking a soul mate. On the other hand, such a message might be misinterpreted as those ‘personal’ messages appeared in many other places and might encourage other people to follow suit. If I may, I am afraid that this is not what GWCCN’s Café was intended for.

Hello, I must say that I'm very impressed with the Chinese Christian Network that has been created here. You guys obvious no what an invaluable resource the Internet can be for Christians.

You see I've been helping out with this Christian organization start up a company called GOLA (Global Online Access http://www.gola.net). We plan on being a nation wide Internet Service Provider. We just started this summer and our vision is to spread the Gospel message on the Internet and create a good wholesome community on the Internet. I've been searching for churches to e-mail and share our vision and that's how I came across GWCCN. I believe that as Christians we should all be able to Network together and unite Christians everywhere. How awesome would that be.

We're still developing our Web page and services but we're our server is up and everything. If anybody's interested in helping us build our ministry and want to subscribe to our service (we support a fast connection up 56K) come visit our home page or e-mail me. If you share our vision about spreading God's ministry on the Internet, contact us. We could use all the help we can get.

You don't need a Holy reason to go to church.

By sitting quietly and giving yourself a clear moment to re-think
what you have been doing alone is already worthy for you to go to
church.

If you are lucky enough to hear some pounding messages from the
pastor, then it is your day.

If this message can arouse your attention from long-time troubles,
then you are the luckiest man in the world.

If this message can lift you up to a higher spiritual level where
you can look down everything in the whole world, then you are the
luckiest man in the history.

And of course you will be one step closer to the heaven :)

So far we are only deal with the theory. It was a good chat.
It could encourage some people. But when deal with the reality,
we must come to the specific.

I said in the previous message that a good event can be turned
to bad luck for those who have habit to worry. I still cannot
figure out whether you are that kind of people. The discussion
cannot help you, because you did not specify your problem.

You must give me real fact for me to analyze the best way to
deal with your problem. When you said that you had bad luck,
what did you mean? Is it really bad, or is it only your thinking
made it looked bad?

Remember the old saying in Chinese that a rich rancher lost his
horse? Everybody said that he had bad luck. But days later, the
lost horse came back with a strong female companion. Everybody
praised that he was lucky. But he said wisely that he must waited
to see the result. The horses gave birth to a pony. The rich
rancher had a son. The son loved the pony and rode it day and
night. One day the son fell down from the back of the pony,
broken the right leg. Everyone said that the horses were
bad luck. But the rich rancher still smilled and said, "We
just need to wait and see."

Years later, the rich rancher's country wage war against their
neighbor countries. Many young people was drafted to the army.
The son of the rich rancher had a broken leg, he was waved from
the military service. His country failed the war. Tens of
thousands of solders died. Almost every household lost a son.
But the rich rancher's only son was preserved. Who said that
his bad luck is bad?

So remember the good saying in James 1:2, "Consider it pure joy,
my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you
know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.
Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and
complete, not lacking anything."

James told us that when we are facing trials of many kinds,
just consider it pure joy. Let's talk more on your "bad luck."
So that we can figure out a way to consider it pure joy.

Talk to you later.

1. because birds do not plan, they die because of hunger. then how shall I plan for myself?
according to His will to plan? but how ?

2. I think I am in a "bad Luck", Then How can I be used by God? Well, Can I complain Him about
my bad luck? If the answer is yes, then how? If no, then why?

Some one e-mail me and asked questions about worry.
I think this is a good topic that will help many.
He asked me to discuss Matthew 6:19-34. If you have
a Bible, please read it before you read the following
message.

Worry can do very little for us.
Did you try to find out the percentage out of the worry you had and the realization
of your worry?
For a person who are constantly worry about future, ninty nine percent of his
or her worry will never happen.
For a very reasonable person, who are not bothered by worry, one out of two or
three things that he worried will actually happen.

If you dig deep into your heart, you will find that some time the things you are
worried actually should be the things that you should happy about. Because a
person who like to worry has a tendency to turn a good event into worry.

So, stop worry. It will not do anything good for you.

Stop worry does not mean that you can do nothing to prepare yourself for the
future. You should plan and prepare for future. But anxiety is something
extra. You can plan and prepare for the worse, but still maintain calm.

How to do this? Jesus told us to trust God. He said, birds do not work,
God still feed them. Wild flowers just bloom for a day, God provides beautiful
cloths for them.

What does this scripture help us? In reality, birds do not work, but many died
because of hungry. Flowers do not plan for the beautiful, but flowers have only
days of life.

Jesus is asking us to accept the fact. If it is God's time for us to fail, let it
fail. If it is God's will for us to success, praise God for the result. Just
don't worry. If it is time for us to die, die. Why bother?

Anyway you can trust God that He will prepare the best for you. Even some bad
luck will be used by God to help those who love Him. So, Stop worry.

With regard to politics for Christians, I heard
a report from my beloved NPR news radio program last year.
It talked about the origin of conservative right-winged
Republicans. As we know, this group is well-organized and
well-financed among the Republicans party. It is good to
see that some Christians actively advocate the
biblical values in our daily lives. But, they are just the
minority in terms of number in the US's Christians world.
Some other politically middle or liberal
Christians feel that this group misrepresents them and are thus
trying to form another form of coaliation.
According to the report, however,
these groups are far too diversified and have little chance
in competiting against the conservative Christian coalition.

Can a Christian take an active part in politics ? We all
know that a Christian should devote himself in God's works,
but most of us understand these "God's works" as preaching,
serving in the church, studying the Bible, helping poors,
sharing faith with others,.....etc.

On the other hand, most people view the political world as
dirty, inhonesty and ungodly. So often time, many Christians
keep themselves away from politics, try to avoid involving
in the political affairs. But the reality is, no matter how
we escape from the political affairs, we are more or less
regulated by the "politics". Don't you see those politicians
debating on the issues like abortion, school prayer, Christian
education, .....etc. Many of the current rules, regulations,
that we got in this society are eventually defined, controlled
and lead by these politicians. And, most important and also
most scaring, all of these rules, regulations later on become
the common value systems in the school, in our communitites and
in our nations. These rules and regulation become the invisible
fences which will govern us, influence our children and affect
the thinking of people to whom we are trying to spray God's words.

And when Christians step away from politics, we are eventually
giving our rights to some other people who are not necessarily sharing
our Christian values. So when we give up our rights or give others
our rights, we are putting ourselves in other's hands.

When your child come home and tell you that there is no God, because
their teachers told them so, or the "Science" told them so, how did
you defend your Christian faith ? we will need lots of efforts to
explain the whole thing over and over again, and your children have
been "brain-washed" by the value system in this society, how much efforts
do we need to rebuild our children's value system ?

But, if there have been a devotional Christian took the lead in the political
world, will we get a more pro-Christian society ? I really don't know.

This is in response to Adam's message:

Hi Adam,

I have checked out the 1997 summer program of the Reformed Institute
and could not find any mentioning of a keynote address by someone
from the Lippo Bank. Would you please verify your source?

I have however checked the last year summer program archive, and
found a special lecture of "Asian Pacific Economics and the Future
of China" by Mr. Mochtar Riyadi, who is an eminent economist and is
the chairman of the board of LIPO Bank. Is this LIPO Bank what you
are referring to (as Lippo), are they the same?

Even though I am not personally related to the Reformed Institute,
but from the qualifications of Mr. Riyadi, it seems that he was
selected to present that particular topic due to his special expertise.
It sounds a little far-fetched to me to somehow link the Reformed
Institute with the bank's allegation. And I certainly would not
even dream that the Reformed Institute, a theological study organization
by christians would have anything to do with US campaign moneyed
politics. May be various lobbying groups and special interest
groups...

That's my two cents, may be someone from the Reformed Institute
should speak up and clarify this :)

I could be wrong, but I think
if we define the Zen is the experience of God and
the status of walking with God, then I think
there are some significant differences between
Buddism and Christianity.

Since Buddists are trying to achieve the status
of Zen by doing some personal self-training, like
meditation, so by doing strict self-upgrading,
some Buddists may really achieve a status of being
touched with spirit-beings. We are not discussing
whether these spirit-beings are Gods or not for now,
but I don't think these self-propelled efforts really
can make us "Godly".

On the contrary, Christianity claim people are vulnerable
and need God's salvation, so long as people surrender themselves
to God's plan, which is Jesus's salvation, then we can be
claimed to be righteous and received the joy and power of
being with God - which the status of Zen.

In short, one is men seek God, the other, God seek men. But
I admit that praying, worshiping and devotional meditation can
help us to experience God, but they are not the "required" part
of receiving God's salvation, by faith alone, we can claim the
salvation, since God has done His salvation plan through Jesus
Christ.

Zen indeed is the status of being in the spiritual world, but I
doubt how we can experince God without knowing Him.

Enoch in the Book of Genesis is my favourite character.
He kept daily walk with God for 40 years until God received
him without letting him suffer from death. I have
wondered how he could walk with God.
In his preface to the book, the Golden Age of Zen, the
Catholic priest, Thomas Merton, pointed out that
Zen is a pure experience with God, regardless of
Buddism or Christianity. Maybe Enoch had attained the stage
of Zen. He found the intrinsic joy of being with God.
He was an excellent example of surrendering himself wholly to God.
Undoubtedly, Christ was the best example when he was on Earth.

Viewers' Discretion is Suggested :

The following conversation does not necessarily reflect
a specific story, but it was really happening sometime ago
at some places. All names are making up. Just want to
bring out some phenomenon in Chinese Churches.

========================================================

Austin and Yochi usually go to church's college fellowship
together every Saturday night. Austin's Father is the pastor
of their church for 20 years; Yochi is not a Chrisitan yet,
but he has been admiring about Christianity. Austin and Yochi
are going to the same high school.

One Sunday, just couple weeks before the Combined College-Entrance
Examination was gonna held, the Pastor, Austin's Father, was giving
a sermon about giving the Lord first priority and putting down the
World's concerns,..., etc. Yochi decided to follow Pastor's teaching :
No matter how heavy the school works were, he didn't want to sacrifice
the Saturday's bible study. So as usual, he called Austin, because he
thought that Austin would definitely go too.

Then this is what it happened :

Yochi : Hello, Austin, what time do you want me to pick you up ?

Austin : Sorry, Yochi, my Father wanted me to stay home and study.

Yochi : ???????????? Excuse me ?

Hi,

How's everyone doing? Having a good day? A bad day?
Well, come on line and talk about it. The benefit is --
you won't get cut off before you get things off your chest :)

I am having a 'regular' day, but I decide to make it a good
day. You see, I discover that if I decided it's a good day,
then I am still happy no matter what; because my outlook and
expectations are different.

I am the 'quasi-sentimental' type. To most men, women are
the sentimental beings which they claim they are not. Well,
I am not trying to confirm nor refute their belief, it's just
what I am sometimes. So, my discovery has helped my days and
my moods significantly.

Some experts say that if one's moods and temperaments do not
swing up and down like a sine curve, then one will live longer.
Well, that'a side benefit to me. But I am happier, and that's
what counts.

I don't know if any of you out there have tried this, or have
been practising it. Hopefully, this can help turn your bad
day to a good day.

And you know what, talk about it, it'll make you feel better...;
and I do mean, you guess right, talk about it here :)

Oh, before I got off, here's something good --
There is a great journal about 'Pilgrimage to the Holy Land' at
the Prilgrimage Journal link from:
http://www.idsonline.com/gwccn/cjumc/cjumc.htm
You must be able to read Chinese though (it's in graphic-Chinese).

Have fun and Have a great day!
